Our Mission

"At Shop Wrenée, our mission is bringing smiles to those who need them while raising money for myeloma research. We are a family-focused company that provides fashionable gifts for every occasion."

 Tracie and Lance's "in sickness and health" journey started in 2017, though they had been married since 2013. They faced a difficult journey when Tracie was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, incurable cancer, in 2020 when she began lifelong chemotherapy and a transplant. Support from the power of love, commitment to each other, and laughter helped them overcome their ordeal and stay strong.

With all the treatments came all the bills. Everyone knows that cancer is expensive, not just in the monetary sense but in life itself. It takes time away from spouses, friends, and families. Hours of pain and sickness. Side effects from treatments can be worse than cancer. Many marriages cannot survive the price of cancer. When one partner has cancer, most partners notice changes in their bond. There are changes in roles and responsibilities, sexual health, intimate relationships, and future goals.

We found that expense was burdensome too. We had to sell off most of our belongings to keep our house. We had to humiliate ourselves by asking for help from others. Tracie was constantly ill from the treatments. Lance felt helpless watching the pain and suffering that Tracie was going through. The 2020 pandemic added even more stress. Tracie had to go through everything alone. At a time when many couples would break from all the stress, we found humor got us through.

When you have cancer, life can seem particularly overwhelming. You are balancing your medication schedule with your appointment schedule, getting used to changing treatment plans and dealing with the side effects of treatments. Even though your entire world has been turned upside down, you presumably still try to live a somewhat "normal life." That’s when laughter works best. From telling bad jokes to dancing in the kitchen with your dog. The key is smiling. Laughter is medicine.

Not just cancer patients but everyone needs a smile or a laugh to get through rough times. Laughter is the best medicine, and scientifically laughter does help the human body as well as the human soul. Laughter lowers stress hormones and increases disease resistance by boosting immune cells and antibodies that battle infections.

Why We Do It

We want to see more happiness and laughter while fostering an eco-friendlier world and raising money for myeloma research. We support the health and happiness of the community, not just those we know. We hold ourselves and our partners to inclusive and just practices because we all thrive when everyone feels supported, seen, and heard.

Laughter Is Medicine

Infants can start laughing even at three months old. They can laugh up to 100 times a day when they are small. Adults, however, may find it challenging to find time for laughter due to the stress and difficulties of everyday life. We frequently don't feel like laughing when pain and worry demand our attention. But in those circumstances, laughing can help us and change how we view the world.
